Rolled oats soaked overnight in spiced apple cider or juice, topped with whatever crisp apple variety is in the cold room. No cooking required — the oats soften in the liquid overnight. A breakfast that's ready before you need it.

Ingredients

🌱 From Your Homestead

  • apple (1 crisp variety, diced or thinly sliced)
  • raw honey (1-2 tbsp)

🛒 From the Store

  • rolled oats (1 cup)
  • apple cider or apple juice (1 cup)
  • chia seeds (1 tbsp)
  • cinnamon (1 tsp)
  • cardamom (1/4 tsp)
  • vanilla (1/2 tsp)
  • salt (pinch)
  • walnuts for topping

How to Make It

  1. Gather your ingredients: apple (1 crisp variety, diced or thinly sliced), raw honey (1-2 tbsp), rolled oats (1 cup), apple cider or apple juice (1 cup), chia seeds (1 tbsp), and the rest.
  2. Prep your homestead ingredients — wash, chop, and measure: apple (1 crisp variety, diced or thinly sliced), raw honey (1-2 tbsp).
  3. Use apple cider instead of milk for a deeper flavor — the natural sugars in cider sweeten the oats better than milk and the apple flavor runs all the way through. If using milk, add a tablespoon of apple butter for the same effect.
  4. Cook for approximately 5 min + overnight. Adjust to taste and serve 2 portions.
  5. Plate, enjoy, and share with your household!
