Garden BLT with Herb Mayo
A proper BLT built around a tomato that was on the vine this morning. The tomato is the whole point — everything else just holds it together.
Ingredients
🌱 From Your Homestead
- peak-ripe tomatoes (2 large)
- fresh lettuce or arugula
- fresh basil
🛒 From the Store
- thick-cut bacon
- sourdough or sandwich bread
- mayonnaise
- salt
- pepper
How to Make It
- Gather your ingredients: peak-ripe tomatoes (2 large), fresh lettuce or arugula, fresh basil, thick-cut bacon, sourdough or sandwich bread, and the rest.
- Prep your homestead ingredients — wash, chop, and measure: peak-ripe tomatoes (2 large), fresh lettuce or arugula, fresh basil.
- Salt the tomato slices five minutes before assembling. It draws out moisture and concentrates flavor — the difference between a good BLT and a great one.
- Cook for approximately 15 min. Adjust to taste and serve 2 portions.
- Plate, enjoy, and share with your household!
